Panel Discussion: Beyond Sectorality? Cross-Sector Cooperation Between Academia, the City and Civil Society

Terms like cross-sector collaboration, public engagement and social responsibility are on the lips of many. They reflect the clear understanding that societal change is a common process that involves diverse actors. But due to differing structures, logics and expectations, collaborations beyond one’s own field often pose a major challenge.

During our panel we would like to discuss: What are the preconditions for joint projects between universities, civil society, the city and its citizens that can have social impact on the local ground? What are the usual obstacles? And how to overcome them?

Panelists:

• Prof. Mariusz Czepczyński, Profesor UG, Department of Spatial Planning (University Gdansk, Poland)
• Constance Krüger, Cultural Coordinator, European University Viadrina (Frankfurt/Oder, Germany)
• Kateryna Rusetska, project manager, concept developer, curator for visuals, NGO Kultura Medialna (Dnipro, Ukraine)
• Dr. Marieke de Wal, expert on cross-sector partnerships at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (Rotterdam, Netherlands)

Moderation: Stefan Henkel, European University Viadrina (Frankfurt/Oder, Germany).

With kind support of the German Federal Foreign Office.
