Digital Movie Screening “In Touch” (2018) and Q&A session

28 October 2020, 6.15 pm (CET)

Digital Movie Screening “In Touch” (2018) followed by a Q&A session with the director Paweł Ziemilski, and Bernd Buder, the programme director of FilmFestival Cottbus

Now, who does not know this feeling to be connected to the outside world only by technical means? Especially labour migrants always have been confronted with the feeling of being isolated both from the new place of residence and from the world they used to live in before.

The Polish documentary filmmaker Paweł Ziemilski dealt with these fundamental limitations even before the times of lockdown, safe distance and our digital zoom parties.

A tiny village in Poland is as good as dead. The older generation left behind communicates with their children only through video calls. They forfeit the opportunity to touch them, even though the presence of the children is felt every day. Streets, buildings are soaked in common memories. Technology is the only way to maintain a deep relationship even at a distance. But when they finally meet and touch again, the value of human contact is once more revealed… and appreciated.
