Ukraine’s Cultural Landscapes

Ukraine’s Cultural Landscapes

Ukraine’s Cultural Landscapes is an initiative at the intersection of culture, environment and urban planning. Our aim is to promote the importance of (cultural) landscapes in people’s lives with focus on healthy environment, heritage and responsible economic development. We work in several areas that are inextricably linked and the division between which is conditional – research (academic), formal and non-formal education and applied urban planning through the development of spatial development concepts for rural and urban areas and developing effective policies.

We consider the landscape in its broadest sense as a historical and socio-natural phenomenon that is the result of human interaction with nature, people among themselves and a phenomenon involved in complex cultural, social, economic and political processes. Landscapes are the framework for a comfortable build up areas, local identity support, the heritage rethinking, tourism development and responsible human-nature relations. Our values are respect for the environment, historical context and cultural diversity.
